Autumn Skincare: How to Switch Your Routine for Cooler Weather

As the weather turns and the heating goes on, your skin often needs a little rethink. That tightness, dullness or new sensitivity a lot of us notice in autumn is usually the drop in humidity paired with the switch from cold outdoors to dry indoor heat. A few small changes keep your skin happy through the cooler months.

Switch to richer hydration

The lighter lotions that felt perfect in summer often are not quite enough now. This is the time to layer in more moisture, a hydrating serum under a slightly richer cream. My Hyaluronic Moisturiser or the comforting Ceramide Moisturiser are lovely autumn upgrades.

Look after your barrier

Cold wind and indoor heating are hard on your skin barrier, which is why skin can turn tight and reactive in autumn. Lean on barrier supporting ingredients like ceramides, and ease off harsh exfoliation if your skin starts to feel sensitive. If it does flare, Cica Post Care soothes it quickly.

A good time to bring in actives

With less strong sun about, autumn is actually a lovely time to start or step up a retinol, since your skin is a little less exposed. Introduce Retinol 1.0 slowly, a couple of nights a week, and always moisturise afterwards.

Do not ditch the SPF

The biggest autumn mistake is dropping your sun protection. UV is still around on grey days, and it is still the main cause of ageing and pigmentation, so keep Meso Shield 50 going all year round. If your skin has changed with the season and you are not sure what it needs, book a consultation and I will help you adjust it.
