A genuine symbol of both luxury and tradition, Matcha Tea, is often described as the ‘green gold of Japan’. Matcha Tea is Chinese in origin but has built its reputation in Japan in the 16th Century when it was introduced into the Tea Ceremony, in order to approach tasting from a spiritual angle of harmony, respect, purity and peace of mind. Produced solely from Tencha Tea, its leaves are processed by a meticulous and ancestral technique, before being transformed into a very fine green and shimmering powder which catches the eye at first glance.
Along with Matcha Tea the formula includes Gluconolactone which is a naturally occurring polyhydroxy acid (PHA) with moisturising, purifying and antioxidant activity. Its ability in free radical scavenging accounts for its antioxidant properties, thereby protecting skin from some of the damaging effects of UV radiation. Gluconolactone offers all the skincare benefits of AHAs but is more gentle to the skin. Gluconolactone was observed to be as effective as benzoyl peroxide in the treatment of acne.
Sodium salicylate, has been added as it is a sodium salt of salicylic acid which helps to minimise the accumulation of sebaceous lipids and strengthen the skin barrier function.
The formula suits all skin types but mainly normal to oily. It does not contain alcohol making it skin friendly.
