Best Skincare Routine for Hormonal Acne: 9 Powerful Steps to Clearer Skin

Breaking out in your 40s feels deeply unfair, but hormonal, adult acne is far more common than anyone admits. It tends to show up along the jaw and chin, often flares with your cycle or with stress, and it does not respond to the harsh teenage products we all remember. Here is how I help my clients calm it, without stripping the skin.

Why it happens

Hormonal shifts nudge your skin to produce more oil and shed cells less tidily, so pores clog and breakouts follow. Because mature skin is also drier and more sensitive than teenage skin, the answer is never to attack it. Gentle and consistent wins every time.

The ingredients that actually help

Salicylic acid gets inside the pore to clear the oil and debris behind congestion. Niacinamide calms inflammation and helps balance oil. And a light, non greasy moisturiser keeps the barrier happy so skin can heal. My go to treatment is Super Salicylic Fluid, with the ACN Corrector for targeting individual spots, and Hyaluronic ZnPCA to hydrate while keeping oil in check.

A simple routine

Cleanse with something gentle like the Salicylic Foam Cleanser, treat with your salicylic fluid, then moisturise. Use an SPF every morning, and Meso Shield 50 sits well over blemish prone skin. Introduce actives slowly and give it time, skin does not clear overnight.

Where to start

Everything I reach for is gathered in my Hormonal Breakouts and Adult Acne edit. And if your skin is really struggling, book a consultation and we will get to the bottom of it together.
